About Us
Yokley’s Automotive started life In 1940 by Gary’s grandfather Aaron Hargis in Monteagle Tennessee. When the coal mines started closing, workers migrated south to Florida, many of whom wound up in south Lake County. Aaron Hargis made the move to Groveland and brought the business with him. Sadly, shortly after he arrived, he had a heart attack and passed. Gary’s father Kenneth Yokley took over the business in 1963. Kenneth took care of a lot of fleet vehicles, mostly rock trucks, his friends and families vehicles and of course the general public’s vehicles out of a two story garage located where the circle K stands in Mascotte today. Kenneth’s son Gary worked for Honda of Leesburg for 22 years until 1989, when he left to take over Yokley’s automotive, which was still located in Mascotte. 3 years later the business moved to Clermont and has been here ever since serving this community. Gary went to school in Atlanta and Jacksonville for General Motors to learn more specialized areas of automotive repair and was one of the first technicians in lake county to pass the L1 advanced level diagnostics curriculum at the national institute for automotive service excellence (ASE). Yokley’s Automotive has been a General Motors TSS service center since 1994. We specialize in Air Conditioning, Drivability, and Computer Diagnostics, but we do all manner of general repairs to all makes and models. And now, Brett Levan, Gary’s grandson is working here and training to take over the business as a 4th generation.
